Milk Teeth are one of the most talked about bands in rock music at the moment, and it’s easy to see why. Contrary to the horde of average pop-punk bands around at the moment, they offer something completely different; energetic, angry, punk that’s unlike any other new rock band’s music. And not only that, their work ethic is unbelievable, having released 2 EPs and an album over the past couple of years, while touring almost constantly.
You wouldn’t think that they were a fairly new band if you listened to this without any prior knowledge. The sound is confident and assured, and the vocals sound great. An example of this is lead single ‘Nearby Catfight’. While it isn’t as immediately catchy as ‘Owning Your Okayness’, which was the lead single off their last EP, it really founds like the band have found both their feet and their sound. And if you don’t like it at first, I guarantee within around a week, you’ll be coming back to it over and over again.
Then there’s ‘Lillian’, my favourite song on the EP. It sounds so confident and punky that I feel like any rock band would be proud to have it on an album. ‘I Stabbed You First’ is as catchy as anything this band has released, and ‘Big Sky’ is unlike anything this band have ever released before, being both the slowest and the heaviest song on the record. It really is unique!
In conclusion, I think this is a great EP from a great up-and-coming band in the shape of Milk Teeth. I don’t quite think that it’s as good as the ‘Be Nice EP’ that they released this year, but it gives it a really close run for it’s money, and still feels like great progress for the band. Going on from this, I can’t wait for whatever they come out with next, because whether it’s an album or an EP, I’m bound to love it!
